Culture of Wellbeing

UCI has a wide variety of health and wellness resources, programs and services, as well as people and departments that manage them. But the Comprehensive Wellbeing Initiative is about the systems and infrastructure that not only support health and wellness, but create and maintain a culture of wellbeing. This pillar focuses on systems level strategy that intentionally and strategically embeds wellbeing into things like policies/protocols, strategic plans, campus planning, classrooms/pedagogy, organizational structures, financial decisions, employee benefits/resources, and more. This pillar moves beyond the programs and services that help people attain health and wellness, and considers and moves forward with things that cultivate and sustain a culture of wellbeing for all (students, faculty and staff).

I think taking care of your own wellbeing is essential to staying healthy and happy, which is why I hope UCI can further elevate students’ wellbeing and prioritize it, especially over academics.
