Sustainability

UCI has a strong track record when it comes to extraordinary work in sustainability and climate. In 2021 the campus was given the highest score in the world (not just the U.S.) in the AASHE STARS ratings; it has been recognized by Sierra Magazine as one of the top “Cool Schools” in the country (including being #1 multiple times); and it is a national leader in the number and percentage of campus buildings that are LEED Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. In addition to these awards and recognition, there is also a tremendous amount of research being done around sustainability and climate. This clearly demonstrates a strong commitment to, and places value on, the wellbeing of place (our campus/community) and planet.

I love leaving my dorm extra early just to have a chance to walk through Aldrich Park.

The walkability of the campus is what for me promotes sustainability at UCI.
